App review: MailTones 03/12/2010 From MobileCrunch So you’ve been using your iPhone for a couple months or years now. You might be addicted to your iPhone. Even if you’re not addicted, chances are that you have a stock of applications on which you rely heavily. Without a doubt, the single most useful application on my iPhone, and the one I use constantly throughout the day, is email. I live by email, and I read and compose email messages far more often than I make actual phone calls with my phone. To preserve my sanity, I’ve disabled the notification sound for new emails: if I hadn’t, my phone would be making noise pretty constantly throughout the day. But that’s not an ideal situation, because there are times when I do want to be notified of an important new email. Enter MailTones, an application that allows you to set custom alert tones, and makes good use of Apple’s push notifications.  |

Review: Ringo Pro for Android 03/11/2010 From GearDiary I have to be honest and admit that I’ve never really been one to play around with custom ringtones for individual contacts. I just look at the screen to see who is calling and decide at that point whether or not to answer. So when Electric Pocket recently asked Gear Diary if we would like to take a look at Ringo Pro for Android, I’ll have to admit that I was a little slow to raise my hand. Now that I’ve had a little time to play around with it, I’m finding it a little fun.  |

MailTones for iPhone – get custom email notifications 02/24/2010 From Blogiversity MailTones also allows you to assign a tone to a specific contact. You can also assign a tone to a specific subject line or domain. Lets say you only get urgent and important emails from a specific address or contact. You could assign a loud and long mail notification to that contact that way when the important message comes to your inbox you won't miss it.  |
